We had a ball in yesterday’s lesson, even though the right canter is not forthcoming (at least not on the right lead!) we had a blast!
Warmed up in trot, a couple of attempts at right canter before leaving it and moving on to some test riding of P7. Trot work giving 7/8’s, canter left best it’s been. We then worked on the free walk on a long rein, which in P7 is short diagonal H/B, no different to long diagonal, it’s all about preparation, execution and reaction to change….. by the end of the session we pretty much had this nailed, i just need to remember to ride for it in the test 🙂
We then practiced centre lines and halts, making sure Cash is halting from the back end, not the front end and going forward into the Halt.
We then did some work on Canter leg yield left, really enjoyed this, going from 3/4 line to track and track to 3/4 line. Cash got to grips with it quite quicky. looking back on the videos his neck could be softer but that will come with time, we know we are in for a long road ahead with his suppleness.
Back to riding the test again, this time putting everything together from the lesson, riding the FWLR, preparing for the halt, keeping the big flowing trot through the test and smile 🙂
Overall i can feel a difference in Cash’s way of going, he’s definitely more fluid, has a lot more impulsion in his trot work and is finding flexion to the right easier. He’s not so heavy in my hand and has stopped snatching me out of the saddle, although that could be a combination of me getting stronger through my core along with him carrying himself more!
