Ground poles are a useful tool for horses and riders of all levels. They are fantastic for promoting self control, balance, focus, suppleness, co-ordination and strength in both parties.
Whilst browsing Facebook over the weekend i came across this diagram by Egcavalletti “8 exercises using only 4 poles”. An awesome find full of ideas for winter schooling whilst adding variety into your sessions (and not labour intensive on your back!).
During our lesson last week we worked over single poles in canter and after finding this i am now looking forward to expanding our use of poles during our training. All of these layouts can be used in walk, trot and canter by adjusting the spacings to suit your horses strides.
